I have noticed that people tend to love or hate Aldi. I am on the Aldi love side, however I don’t do all of my shopping there. If you haven’t shopped at Aldi before these are a few of the things I feel like are a great deal.
Seafood
I love the seafood at Aldi. I think it is great price, rarely do I see it cheaper at other stores. I have always been really happy with the quality also. I buy the shrimp, salmon and tilapia. My favorite thing about the seafood is the way the fish comes individually wrapped. I often only use half a bag and this allows it to stay in the freezer without freezer burn. Also I can thaw the fish by putting it in a bowl of lukewarm water. The bags keep it fresh, and after it is thawed I remove it from the bag.
Milk & Eggs
Aldi has some of the best prices on milk and eggs. Their milk is usually between $1.99-$2.39, this tops almost any sale you can find at Kroger or Meijer. Eggs are usually around $1.29. I do see eggs go to $1 at Walgreens about once a month, but eggs for $1 is a rare find anymore. If I know I can get them for $1.29 I am pretty happy.
Fruits & Vegetables
I think fruits & veggies is where you save the most money at Aldi. Carrots and celery often go for around $.89. I recently bought 2 lbs. of carrots for $1.39. Bananas are almost always under $.50 a pound. During the summer their Watermelon goes for as low as $2.99. I have always been incredibly happy with the quality. Yes, I have occasionally bought something I didn’t think was great quality, however I get that at almost any store. Aldi is the only store I know of with a Double Guarantee.
Baking Goods
Aldi has great prices on the staples that you need for baking. Flour, sugar, baking soda, etc. Coupons on these products are few and far between so these are a great thing to buy at Aldi without any coupons. I think most of their everyday prices beat the stores sales.
Canned Goods
Aldi has a nice selection of canned vegetables and fruits. Normally I like to have fresh fruits and vegetables, however occasionally I need canned for a recipe. I have never had any problems with their canned products. I can get the canned tomato sauce for $.25.
I have bought plenty of other things at Aldi and although I am happy with them I can usually pick them up cheaper at Kroger or Meijer with a coupon. I feel like my top 5 are sometimes items that are hard to find a coupon for. If you haven’t given Aldi a try I would recommend it. They have a double your money back guarantee on their food if you aren’t happy.
Disclosure: Aldi has no idea who I am. I just love some of their products so much I thought I would share!
