My family loves Rice Krispie Treats. We make them about once a month as a quick desert. Then my sister told me about her friend who mixes in cake mix with the Rice Krispies. I had to try that, and add more on top. These Krispies are fantastic, my family was in heaven eating these.

You start them out just like normal, marshmallow and butter in a saucepan. I added an extra tablespoon of butter to make up for the dryness of the cake mix.

IMG_2582.JPGOnce the marshmallows were melted I dumped in the cake batter and stirred. Then add the Rice Krispies and mix well.

IMG_2583.JPGPress into a 8 by 8 inch pan and allow to cool for about 20 minutes. While they are cooling, melt white chocolate microwave. Mix in cake mix and vegetable oil. Then place in a zip lock bag.

IMG_2587.JPGCut the corner off the zip lock and spread over the Krispie treats. Add sprinkles if you like.

Cake Batter Krispie Treats

  • 5 Tbsp. Margarine
  • 1 package Marshmallows
  • 6 1/2 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1/3 cup Cake Mix

Topping

  • 1/4 cup White Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Tbsp. Cake Batter
  • 1 Teaspoon Vegetable Oil

In saucepan, melt butter and marshmallows over low heat stirring constantly. Once melted add 1/3 cup cake mix and stir until mixed well. Then add Rice Krispies and coat well. Spread into an 8 by 8-inch pan. Allow to cool for about 20 minutes. Once the Krispie treats have cooled place the White Chocolate Chips in the microwave for about 1 minute, or until melted, stirring every 30 seconds. Add Cake Batter and Vegetable Oil, mix until smooth. Place chocolate mixture in a ziploc and spread over Krispie Treats. I placed green sprinkles over them afterward for St. Patties Day.
