Do you ever buy something specifically for a recipe and then have some leftover? I find that I do that a lot with cream. I have a few recipes that use heavy cream and then I have just a small amount leftover. I figured I would list out my favorite uses for using up cream.
Heavy Cream is delicious in eggs. Put in two to four tablespoons to make them so fluffy and creamy. You can add them to an omelet or just make scrambled eggs. Its a great way to use just a little bit of cream up.
Add it to a can of tomato soup. It takes Campbell’s tomato soup to a whole new level. I don’t usually like tomato soup, but add a bit of cream and Parmesan and I will eat it up. I would recommend about a 1/4 of a cup for a normal sized can.
You can make some whipped cream. If you have around a cup left you can mix in a tablespoon of Confectioners Sugar and whip in a bowl until you get stiff peaks. This is great to serve with fruit.
If you have a lot of heavy cream left over you can make butter. I love making Homemade Butter. It’s so easy to do. Kids love to help with this fun “recipe”. You can see how I do it right here.
You can use it to bread foods before you bake or fry the foods. Just use it in the place of eggs. The breading will come out the same as if you used an egg. It works great.
I hope this gives you some ideas of how to use up the rest of your cream. I love saving money by couponing, however I know it is important to use up all the food I get too.
Do you have any ideas for using up leftover cream? I would love to here them.
