I used to always spray my plants with a chemical bug spray. I finally stopped using it because of the bad smell. My son wouldn’t want to play outside if I used the bug spray that day. I made a switch to homemade bug spray and I am so happy with it.

It’s really easy to make. You just need dish detergent and water, plus a spray bottle to put it all in. I bought mine at Michael’s for only $.99. Place two cups water and 3 tablespoons dish detergent ( I used seventh generation) in a spray bottle. Give it a good shake and spray away. I try to get all the leaves well coated.

I would recommend spraying them every two weeks. Also, you will want to do this while your plants are in total shade. I have used this successfully on my hosta and hydrangea’s however I would test all plants in a small area and give it a day or two.
