I have to admit, I am not much of a gardener. I always hear people talk about growing green onions, basil and tomatoes. I can’t seem to keep anything alive. Because I can’t, I try to buy things like green onions at a cheap price and freeze them until I need them. Last week Meijer had green onions for $.33 a bunch. I bought two and froze them. If you haven’t ever done it before it is so easy!
I washed out all of the green onions and then laid them out to dry on a paper towel.
Once they were dry then I chopped them all up. I like to flash freeze green onions so they don’t all stick together. I spread out all of the cut up green onions on a cookie sheet.
Just place the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes and they should be frozen. Now you can just put them in a ziplock or a tupperware. They won’t stick together and you can just grab a couple when you need them. Make sure the ziploc or tupperware is heavy duty so the smell won’t leak out. I use the soup containers from Chinese carryout, they work perfect.
