For Valentines Dinner one of the things we are having is chocolate covered strawberries. These can be so easy to make and they can be very inexpensive. I bought strawberries at Aldi for $1.29 and I am using the Lindt chocolate that I bought at Kroger for $.50.
I first washed off the strawberries and let them sit until they are completely dry. Then I put some of the truffles in a small bowl (about 1 truffle per 2 or 3 strawberries). Microwave the truffles stirring every 15 seconds until they are all melted.
Then dip the strawberries in the melted chocolate until they are well coated.
Place strawberries on a cookie sheet covered with aluminum foil and place in freezer for about 5 minutes. If you are doing 2 or 3 kinds of chocolate you can use the leftover to drizzle over the strawberries in different colors. I just use a spoon to drizzle it. The strawberries should be stored in the fridge. They do start to get mushy after 24 hrs. so eat them quick.
