This week is national collection week for Operation Christmas Child. If you are interested in packing a box you will want to pack it and drop it off this week. You can see drop off locations here. Operation Christmas Child is a where a gift-filled shoebox is sent to a needy child somewhere in the world with a message of God’s love. I have found this only takes a few minutes to do and kids love to help. My son has enjoyed packing shoe boxes for years. You can send them in shoe boxes or we purchase the plastic bins at the Dollar Tree.
I like to put in some toys like jump ropes, balls, dolls, and dominoes. Blow up balls are great because they take up so little space.
I also try to put in some hygiene items such as toothbrush, floss, washcloth, and soap.
School supplies and accessories are other items they recommend packing. You can see a list here. So many of these items are things I have gathered for next to nothing throughout the year.
If you don’t have time to pack a shoebox this week, but would still like to participate you can pack a shoebox online. You pay $30 and decide what goes in the shoebox and write a letter to the child.
